Saturday, May 13 is International Migratory Bird Day. Since 1993, the holiday has been celebrated annually on the second Saturday of May. Thousands of species pass through Nebraska on the Central Flyway to northern nesting grounds.
Be sure to take your camera along when you venture out in Wilderness Park this month. We expect to see some amazing bird photo submissions to our upcoming photo contest. More information on that will be coming soon.
Throughout the month there are events going on across the state, and it’s a great time to sign-up for nature walks and other events to learn more about birds and how you can help preserve and create welcoming habitat. The Nebraska Bird Library will help you identify the birds you see.
